Web Accessibility for DCU Academic Staff

October 24th - November 21st 2005

DCU Academic staff are invited to an online Web Accessibility course. This is a 4 week course, in which participants will learn how to make web-based resources accessible to the widest possible variety of users, but particularly those affected by a disability. Participants will gain an understanding of what Web Accessibility is and why it is so important. They will learn the principles of accessible document authoring, and how to use Microsoft Word, in particular, to produce such documents. Participants will also learn how these "universal design" techniques are powerful general tools that can regularly save time and effort for document authors.

The course will be delivered entirely online using the DCU Moodle platform. It will be "tutor-led" with the tutor providing direction and support throughout. Participants will have extensive flexibility in when and where they wish to participate, but will need to allocate approximately 2 hours per week to course activities (8 hours total over the four week course duration).
