People with disabilities have been promised basic rights for years. The right to assessment, to access to services, to be represented, to basic information. All these rights were going to be in the Disability Bill. The Disability Bill has been published. But there are no entitlements in the Bill. No guarantees of anything. No rights at all. People from every part of the Disability Movement have strongly objected to the Bill. We all believe that if this Bill is passed by Dáil Eireann, the campaign for rights will be set back for years. Dáil Eireann will start debating this Bill next Thursday. People in the Disability Movement have one last chance to make our voices heard next Tuesday. The meeting will be chaired by Fintan O'Toole, and there will be short speeches from: Kathy Sinnott Hope Project Deirdre Carroll NAMHI Donal Toolin Forum for Disabilities in Ireland John Dolan - Disability Federation Seamus Greene National Parents and Siblings Alliance Speaker from People with Disabilities Ireland Disability Mass Meeting, Mansion House, Dublin Tuesday February 19th, 7.30 pm NO RIGHTS NO BILL! And all our politicians will be invited to attend. But this is your chance to be heard. And it may be our last chance, as a united Disability Movement, to make the politicians listen. No more broken promises. No more playing with words. Now is the time for rights.
